Mpathi Itsotsi ft. Lasta and Joystick – Umgulukudu

Prologue

I’ll be the first to say I’m not a fan of Kasi Rap. Its stagnant. Its 9/10 always the same story. “Ngisakhula ugogo wayesinakekela, kunzima silala ngekabishi nsuku zonke”. Same flow, same story. Its like every Kasi rapper has the same granny and she was heavy on the cabbage recipe.

Mphathi Itsotsi is the solution to all this. New flow, new topics, new concepts, new sound. The piano feel was refreshing too. The bars were not diluted, the vernac is fire these days too. We the generation that brought it back with real sauce. Special special mention to Okmalumkoolkat for that too. I remember hearing Mlazi Milano and knowing “WE UP”. His influence can never be overlooked.

Mpathi represents iLokishi, in a new age stance though. Not promoting crime, disrespect and alcohol. He gravitates towards good energy, family, hard work and uplifting the community. I’m all for this. New mind-set, new flows, new stories, authentic art, while showing love to iLokishi. Ngakhula eMbali kodwa ziningi izinto ekumele sidlule kuzona. Asibekeni umndeni phambile sishayeni imali.

Luckily Mphathi won’t stop too. New single on the way. Features on the way, work with S Black Entertainment, and finally he’s part of the Pure Water project that’s coming soon headed by The Collective Wave.

This is not the last you’ll be hearing from this King, certainly not the last review too. More on the way.
