“Heavy hands, first and second jab hit like Tekken Tag” – Tony Dangler
Easily the most fitting introduction for this piece. Peaceful war wounds were distributed on this project. Ziplock Zee really came in and spoke his peace in a violent manner. “Not too certain about days a k**f*r got, so I be speaking my mind.” The pen was at work. DAMNED IF I DON’T. Zip knew he was behind in terms of productivity and the people were starving. He whipped up a plate like your favourite aunt at the function.
“F**k what you mean, we the shit? I was in the streets taking risks.” That was evident. His versatility was on display with “All I Need.” Perfect balance between speaking from the heart and not being corny. Even on “its alright” with RVGGA. It was the perfect blend of bars on a melodic beat. Sunday drive therapy energy if I can say so.
“Swish” was out of the generic Zip sound. It had a Playboi Carti feel to it. Wavy and new age, still bodied it too. Execution and flow were up there without sacrificing on the diction.
The features were special too, Pietermaritzburg as usual flexing its creativity and unique skill set of making commercial Alternative Hip Hop. We really could only complain on the length of the project. Or this could be a teaser to a project end of the year?
“Ain’t no typical story, nobody selling it for me, I give thanks to the Lordie”
