S Black Entertainment – TheDopeKid, H.B, Twostepszn ft. Zakwe – Ngyak’thatha
Prologue
S Black Entertainment. Who are they? All I see is fly cars, dope snippets and elite cinema on social media. Its like they secretly funded. The energy is high level.
They’re effortlessly bringing national artists to the Third too.
Zakwe, Duncan, Touchline and Ginger Trill etc.
Let’s talk about how the formula came together? I like the roll outs, I like the music, I like the photography and videography. Everything is planned out. Well executed too.
“Ngyak’thatha?” Automatic hit song… A formula everyone wants to crack. In Hip Hop its probably the most difficult skill to have. If you rap too much, the back packers relate. The con to this? You’re underground all of a sudden. If you rap too little? You’re well on the way to be labelled a mumble rapper. Even worse, the “she’s/he’s gone Pop” tag might catch you.
This song man. S Black Entertainment killed it. They didn’t compromise, nor lose themselves to make this art. The perfect hook, a South African beat that resonates with the KZN culture. A Piano meets Maskandi energy. It worked out.
One of those songs that sound effortless. Its organic, I’ll always say this, rapping about love and coming off on the “not corny at all” section? That’s a skill. This is a joint the whole family would like and you would still hold your Hip Hop card with dignity.
Lastly, I want to give props to the executive team. We’re so used to horror stories about how execs will always hurt the artists. This is not the case with S Black Entertainment. SBlack has always put the art first, has always prioritized the city too. Curated events that put the city first even though they had A List Hip Hop artists in their corner.
The Third should be proud.
